BinSlayer

Originally BinSlayer (as in Bin Laden Slayer) was a type of gun for Unreal Tournament (1999), which consisted of a zoom, and rapid fire laser-like projectiles with splash damage. The first BinSlayer weapon ever made was made by Bones for the <ONS> clan, and was setup on a server called "One Night Stand". It was an arena type server with Low Gravity and weapons that would rotate with each map. He also was the first one to add music to maps, which you might have seen some with NM (new music) at the end of the name. Then he created BinSlayerV2. That was the one with the USA flag colors and streams of red/white/blue shooting out. Soon after, many other guns were created based on the BinSlayer design.

Now (for UT2003 and 2004), Binslayer is a slightly different weapon, yet also it's a style of play which consists of the gun (of course), low gravity, quad jump, very fast game speed, and the unlimited translocator (made by me, EvilJesús). Binslayer matches are typically held in "Giant Maps" or sometimes "Arena Maps". It's a run 'n' gun style of play, where you must stay off the ground, or you will not survive. Some of the greatest translocator players ever are BinSlayer players.

UT2004 Mods

DAMN Clan's involvement in BinSlayer is not only being part of the community, but also making maps and mods for this fine playing style. Since UT2004 is still coming out, there may not be any BinSlayer mods yet, so on behalf of the BinSlayer community, we took the honor of making what may be the first ever Bin mods for UT2004. Here are two important mods for UT2004 (made lastnight, March 15th 2004, before the game even shipped ;), which are needed to setup a basic BinSlayer server.

Running a BinSlayer Server

Once you have installed the above mods on your server (which is basically putting the .u and .int files in the System directory and adding the ServerPackages lines in the UT2004.ini file), you can run the server by making a batch file like this:

If you are running a Linux server, you can write a similar shell script like this:

Once you have your batch file/shell script setup, you can just execute it by running MyServer.bat, or myserver.sh, or whatever you named it. On linux, don't forget to chmod 755 the shell script, or else it won't exectute. Oh, and you may want to edit your DeathMatch maplist and add some "BinSlayer friendly" Giant maps and Arena maps in there ;).

Making UT200x Weapons

So, you may be wondering how I make all these mods and guns. Well, I have prepared a weapon making tutorial myself, writing it as I actually make the gun. The weapon making tutorial will teach you what you need to know to get started on making your own weapons for UT2003/UT2004 from scratch. BinSlayer Community

The BinSlayer community is a small one, I estimate about a few hundred of us that play it regularly. The majority of the community are nice, friendly people that love this game. This community consists of 3 generations of Unreal Tournament.
